Ring-tailed lemurs are inimitable because of their long, vibrantly striped with black-and-white tail. Ring-tailed use their hands and feet to move around from tree to tree, but not like their cousins the ring-tailed cannot grip with their tail. Their tail is used for balance when moving among flat surface; they spend quite some time on the ground, which is uncommon for lemur species. Their whole hand is used to grip; it is hook-like and cannot grab small objects. Digits have smooth nails excluding the second toe which has a long claw
