There are 13 species of otters. Sea otters live in the ocean and hardly ever come onto the land. River Otters live in dens and homes built by beavers. River otters eat fish, frogs, crabs, and mollusks. Sea otters eat crabs, octopus, clams, and fish. They need to eat a third of their body weight every day.
Otters are the only swimmers in the weasel family. They have furry bodies, and a flat tail. Otters have webbed feet, and can close their ears and nose when swimming. Sea otters can float on their backs for
