Like any big city, burglary-related crimes are common throughout the boroughs in London. According to detailed statistics released by the City of London Police, 234 burglary-related crimes were reported, which was an increased by 3.04% between October 2014 to September 2015 (City of London Police, 2015). This research study will help aid a charity – that helps support victims of crime, comprehend the impact of burglary in London. The objectives of this research study are as follows; first off, this assessment will assess the public’s perception and fear of burglary in London. Secondly, this study will compare the public’s opinion and fear of burglary from various boroughs across the city. Finally, the last objective is to discover what actions the public from each borough are taking – if any, to prevent or minimize burglary within their neighbourhood. Mawby’s Burglary provides a well thought-out perspective on the various perceptions of burglary – particularly in the United Kingdom. It is broken down into sections that detail the public’s opinion of burglary in the United Kingdom, the effects the crime has on victims, prevention methods in various neighbourhoods, victim support programmes, and the punishment for committing burglary (Mawby, 2001).
