Robert Frost Robert Lee Frost is an American Poet. He was published in England before he was published in America. Robert is known for his realistic depictions of rural life. He was born March 26, 1874 in San Francisco. He died on January 29, 1963 in Boston .His cause of death is from complications of surgery. Robert Frost was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry four times. One of his most famous poems is “The Road Not Taken.” The title of the poem is The Road Not Taken. Based on the title I believe the poem is a about using roads as a metaphor for the choices we make in life. Paraphrase of the poem is: “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood. And sorry I could not travel both…Two roads split at a yellow forest, I’m sorry I couldn’t go on both…I took the one less traveled by and that has made all the difference.” The connotation is based on the stanza, “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.” I chose this text because it shows that the man in the story was happy with the choices he made in the end. The attitude changes from apprehension and anxiety at the beginning to happy and content at the end. The way he says “And be one traveler, long I stood,” it helps explain how anxious he is about making this choice, but when he says “I shall be telling this with a sigh” it shows how he has gotten over his anxiety.
