To conclude, Stevenson brings attention to the state of our justice system of being corrupt and how it benefits white people, he indicates that is because of police brutality and racism/racial bias. He gave the details of the conditions prisoners faced in jail and it gave insight to anyone who has no idea what prison is like or what the death penalty is. I for one never knew what my opinion on prison and the death sentence was, I never knew that the prison system acted as a new form of slavery, imprisoning black americans because of ignorance . Stevenson makes the readers think deeply on the subject of the death penalty, how it's unfair and that's it's brutal because of how unprepared the process is, he implies that the death penalty is inhumane
