In the story “Pride of Seven” by Robert W. Krepps, the author writes about keeping up and following society's expectations and practices by telling the reader about a young man who is living with the Masai. He is friends with a man named En-gerr and he has never killed a lion. In order to be a man of the Masai, you have to kill a lion, but unfortunately for En-gerr, he has never done so. Later in the story, En-gerr decides to kill his first lion, but instead he does something very out of the ordinary when it comes to the Masai’s culture, and makes peace with the king.
