How rodeo and dancing connect
Dancing is something that almost everyone does. Whether it is a prom or homecoming dance with your partner or an alcohol-fueled mosh pit at a local concert. dancing can connect almost every human in one way or another. Just like how rodeo connects millions of people across the world every year, and that's not their only similarity.
I have danced like most people on random occasions as I grew up from at random parties or banquets to dancing in my living room when I was 3 and learning what rock was. But did you know that the similarities between the hobby of dancing are very similar to the actions of a bull rider competing at rodeos? Even though they are 2 different sports …show more content…
But why dance, dancers don't get on 2000-pound animals who want to throw you off and then squish you into the ground. But the similarities lie in the mechanics of riding. When you are dancing with someone else and their movements aren't in sync with yours, you just fall around each other like idiots. And in Bull Riding when you do not make moves as the bull makes moves then you are going to meet their horns at a very high rate of speed. If your partner while dancing starts trying to guess what moves you are about to do, then you will be off time. If i'm on the bull and start trying to map the next move it may (most likely) lead to me getting thrown off there back onto a metal gate while I feel like a dumbass. And like dancing, if you are not focused while you ride, you will not ride well or make the whistle at all. But one of the things that can be compared is the feeling you will get while doing both, the adrenaline rush most likely will not be the same for both, but when you get into a rhythm while dancing and while riding you will feel like the next moves are laid out in front of you and you do not have to do anything. With both, if you lean into that feeling too much, you will lose the connection with your
