This novel is about courage and perseverance through hard times especially since this is during the great depression and segregation but the logans fought on and they have something others do not.
In the novel roll of thunder hear my cry there are many characters that have shown courage. One character that proves to show courage is Uncle Hammer shows courage when Cassie told him about the incident in strawberry about when she was aggressively asked to get into the street by Lillian Jean. But when she refused, Mr. Simms shoved her into the street because of segregation and the Plessy vs. Ferguson separate but equal laws then Uncle Hammer stood up for Cassie when he went to the Simms house.
