Rolland and Juliette
Long ago in southern Ontario town there was an ancient feud between two powerful families: the Capulets and the Montagues. The Capulets were the richest French family in the town, while the Montagues were the most powerful English family in the town. Like all French and English at the time, they had a bitter rivalry. Both families had been sworn enemies since before Confederation.
One day two young Montagues, Rolland and his cousin Benjamin decide to crash a ball held by the Capulets. At the ball Roland meets and falls in love with Juliette. Juliette’s cousin, Tybalt, is infuriated at Romeo for sneaking into the ball, but is stopped from killing Romeo by Juliet's father, who doesn't wish to shed blood in his house. After the ball Rolland sneaks into the Capulet’s garden and overhears Juliette on her balcony vowing to love to him in spite the French and English enmity. Rolland reveals himself to her and they agree to be married. They are secretly married the next day.
Tybalt, still incensed that Rolland had snuck into a Capulet ball, challenges him to a duel. However Rolland now considers Tybalt his family and refuses to fight. Marcus, Romeo’s best friend, is offended by Tybalt's flagrant aggression and accepts the duel on Rolland's behalf. Marcus is gravely wounded when Rolland endeavors to break up the fight. Over encumbered with guilt and grief, Rolland kills Tybalt.
The Mayor, tired of the warring families' feud, deports Rolland to the United States.
