The purpose of Carlos Saura’s film Tango is the different elements in romantic relationships. Near the start of the film, Laura Fuentes ends her romantic relationship with Mario Suárez. The scene demonstrates the element of death in a relationship. This also allows Suárez to pursue a relationship with Elena Flores. In the middle of the film, Flores and Laura dance together as a part of the trio dance. The dance shows the change of partners over time and represents the change of romantic partners in Suárez’s relationships.
