“He said plin tirely ‘Don’t let him sock me George’...’look lennie try to keep away from him will you?’” Since lennie isn’t at the same mental level for his age George comforts him and tells him the safest thing to do since he can make a rational discussion with his mental disability. Also George tells lennie to keep away from Curley’s wife because Lennie can’t put together that she will take advantage of him and get him into trouble. (Steinbeck 32) “Don’t even take a look at that bitch. I don’t care what she say or do. I never seen no piece of jailbait worse than her.’” Once again trying to prevent lennie from getting in trouble. [He takes out the poison and drinks it.] If Romeo waited even a couple more minutes to just take in what happened and contemplated his decision Juliet would have woken up and they wouldn’t have killed themselves. Also when Romeo is exiled Juliet says to the nurse she will kill herself if Romeo doesn’t come to her tonight. (Shakespeare 3.2.135-137) “But I, a maid, die maiden-widowed. Come, cords, come, nurse, I’ll to my wedding-bed, and death, not Romeo, take my maidenhead! This shows how they don’t take time to think of a rational solutions for the problem they just let their emotions get the best of them. George and Lennie have a plan before they get into trouble and are always thinking ahead so they know they can find each other if something goes wrong.
‘Well look. Lennie- if you jus’ happen to get in trouble like you always done before, I want you to come right here an’ hide in the brush.’ ‘Hide in the brush.’ said Lennie slowly. ‘Hide in the brush till I come for you. Can you remember that?’ (Steinbeck 15)
