In this scene, Juliet's determinism is displayed when she sets her mind to it. Earlier, Romeo gave instructions to the Nurse, to relay Juliet the information that they shall be married that afternoon at Friar Laurence's cell. Three hours later, the Nurse returns to Juliet, who is anxiously waiting for the news. The Nurse decides to playfully annoy Juliet by refusing to answer any of her questions, which in turn raises her worries. However, Juliet is determined to figure out what the announcement is and if it's either good or bad - if they will marry or not.
