Many people believe in either fate or free will. It is a difficult subject to get a final answer to, but many things happen for a reason and that is where fate takes its role. I am going to tell you why Fate is the most logical answer when it comes to Romeo and Juliet. In the play “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare both characters show their belief in fate throughout their words and actions. Both characters fell in love and continued their journey to get married, but in the end fate took the lives of both of them after a misleading event.
Fate falls perfectly into the topic of the story about Romeo and Juliet because throughout their journey, the characters show their belief in fate through both their actions and their words. For example, in the play Juliet says, “If he be married. My grave is likely to be my wedding bed”(shakespeare). This quote explains that fate may control the death of Juliet. This explains that there is always something leading up with ones free will, this “something” can be determined as fate. Many people would argue that they make their own choices as well as choose their own paths, but they would be wrong because fate helps many make their decisions since things always happen for a reason although one may not think so. In the article “The Choice Is Yours: The Fate Of Free Will” the author Marcelo Gleiser explains that, “Many neuroscientists, and some philosophers, consider free will to be an illusion”(Gleiser 2).
