One of Benvolio’s traits seen in the play is that he is a peacemaker. In Act 1, Scene 1, when an argument between the servants of the feuding household arises, Benvolio quickly tries stop the fight. “Part fools! Put up your swords; you know not what you do...I do but keep the peace, Put up thy swords, Or manage it to part these men with me.” (Act 1, Scene 1 Lines 61-65) This short quote shows that Benvolio tries to cease the fighting in the public square, thus making him a peacemaker. In Act 3, Scene 1 Benvolio displayes his honesty when he for when he describes to the Prince and the citizens what had happened. Benvolio describes what happened in the fight with limited personal bias. Instead of clearing Romeo of wrongdoing in his explanation he tells the crowd the events that had just occur in a truthful manner. Benvolio does this because he is a honest character. As a result his honesty can be easily interpreted from the many examples in the play.
