Romeo And Juliet Pyramus And Thisbe Essay

Was Shakespeare really a copycat? We believe he was, and that he got the idea for his play, “Romeo and Juliet,” from a boom known as, “Pyramus and Thisbe.” Shakespeare’s play was famous for the story of two teens in love, as was “Pyramus and Thisbe.” The stories, in all, are just way too similar to be coincidental. The real question is, did Shakespeare use this play, to create his own? If we think of the theme, we find young love. Each book was about two young lovers, who we’re unable to love because of their parents. Each of the teenagers would find secretive ways to go about expressing their love. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet herself decides to kill herself when she sees that Romeo is dead, “There rust, and let me die.” (Shakespeare, Act 5, Scene 3, Page 8) The young Pyramus does the same when he sees a bloody robe, acting as if Thisbe had died. “Now, he said.” “You shall drink my blood too.” (Hamilton, Page 489) Onwards, of the love, Romeo and Juliet, and Pyramus and Thisbe, have a connection of dishonesty to their parents. Romeo and Juliet’s families were moral enemies, yet Romeo and Juliet, married each other. Congruently, Pyramus and Thisbe would communicate through a crack in the wall, to which their parents didn’t know about. …show more content…
In Romeo and Juliet, the youngster’s are not able to love because of their parents, as does the story of Pyramus and Thisbe. Regardless of what they are told, they believe that nothing can bring down the love for eachother. “Love, however, can not be forbidden.” (Hamilton, Page 488) Relatively, in each story, the characters create drama by sneaking out and meeting each other. In Pyramus and Thisbe, the two sneak out after dark so they can meet each other in real life. This is near the same as Romeo and Juliet when they sneak out to get
