Tragedy and death cause an ancient feud too come to an end, but not how anyone expected it to. Two feuding families in Verona, Italy, the montagues and Capulets, try to keep their families apart, but when two young lovers one from each family commit suicide, the rivalry comes to an end. In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, situational irony, verbal irony, and dramatic irony are used to increase the audience’s interest. Situational irony is used in the play to engage the audience because the opposite of what happens occurs. Romeo and his friend’s are heading to a Capulet party. When they arrive, Romeo is still heartbroken about Rosaline, but not for long he sees a beautiful girl named Juliet and muttered “
