President Ronald Reagan idolized Franklin Roosevelt and seen him as a political role model if you will. Reagan even admitted voting for Roosevelt the first time he was eligible to vote. Both Presidents faced war and economic hardships during their term in office. Roosevelt had WWII a more violent and demanding war whereas Reagan had the Cold War. Both Presidents had peaking deficits that they slashed nearly in half during their term as president. Other things Franklin Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan had in common was belief in free trade, immigration, strong foreign policy, and a mastery of utilizing the media avenues of their times like radio, movies, and television.
