The most common in this category are the Rorschach Inkblot Technique and the Thematic Apperception Test. The Rorschach inkblot technique, is a series of ambiguous ink blobs on a paper given to patients for interpretation. This test is given twice, first time the examiner ask the patient to describe what he or she sees in the ink blobs. The second time, the examiner ask specific questions to the patient in relation to the ink blobs. There is no right or wrong answer, also, the answers can be interpreted differently. The test can demonstrate if the individual suffers from a psychosis, brain damage, aggression, and or homosexuality. The second type is Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) which is based on pictures that are more obvious. The pictures demonstrates individual(s) in a situation or demonstrating a reaction. The examiner ask the patient to describe the scenario happening on a particular picture from the TAT. Many of the stories that the patients tell are based on their own confrontations that they are suffering in their own life.
