Born on July 25, 1920 in London, England, Rosalind Else Franklin was a very bright woman and well known for her discovery work in DNA, as well as, being an X-Ray crystallographer. She grew up in a typical Jewish family who was serious when it came to education. Her father was a physics teacher at an education institute for adults, so she grew up being involved in science even at young age.
During her childhood years, Franklin was a very smart child and she “earned distinctions in six subjects in her matriculation examinations in 1938.” By the time she reached fifteen years old, she knew she wanted to become a scientist. She even earned a scholarship based on her outstanding knowledge which helped her achieve admittance to the college level.

She left the Norrish’s lab because of the heavy drinking that took place. “Franklin went on to work as an assistant research officer at the British Coal Utilization Research Association, where she studied the porosity of coal” (Biography, 1). Franklin was a very hardworking woman and was enormously passionate about her work. She enjoyed traveling and moved to Paris to work on her X-Ray crystallography which was a big step in her career.
However, with all the positive results so far in her life, came also some resistance. She suffered through some difficult times, especially when it came to her two partners. They seemed to dispute her findings and this lead to continuous conflicts regarding her work and discoveries in DNA. This created even more determination in her research to work harder. At King’s College, London she made definitive strides during her research on the X-ray diffraction images of DNA. This discovery led other scientist, after using her findings, to ultimately win the Nobel Prize in
