More specifically, the shofar is the horn of a ram, that blown into to create sound. On Rosh Hashanah, Jewish followers go to the synagogue for services, where the shofar is blown many times. The only exceptions is if Rosh Hashanah falls on the Sabbath, then it will not be blown (Bloom, 53). Even though the shofar is blown many times during the service, it tends to be later in the service, during the Musaf Amidah. The shofar is blown later in the services during the Musaf Amidah, because of its history. If the shofar was blown earlier, in history it would show the Jews enemies that they were there, and the Jews would get attacked and slaughter. Therefore, since the shofar is blown later, the Jews were not attacked, but rather attacked their enemy. The blowing of the shofar is a very crucial and important part to service since it can represent sacrifices and can be considered memorial before god. Since it is so important, everyone comes to the blowing of the shofar, even kids who do not sit through the who service come to the blowing of the shofar. If someone is unable to come to synagogue for the blowing of the shofar, for example ,the elderly or sick, many times a shofar would be brought to them and blown
