In this essay I will be talking about Run Lola Run using two different theories’ by using Todorov theory and Propps theory. In Run Lola Run it uses both theories in the Narrative structure. At the beginning of Run Lola Run its starts off with `Lola’ getting a phone call from her boyfriend `Manni’, which gives an equilibrium fill to the film in the first 5 minutes, but once the film gets to 10 minutes the film goes away from Todorov theory. But it glides towards Propps theory. With the characters the writer has given them many twists and turns in this film, but it does follow Propps theories in a clever way that gets us to use our minds to guess, which character fits into the roles in the quest structure. For me I image that Lola is the hero in quest structure. For the dispatcher I believe that it is `Manni’ who is the one who sends `Lola’ on her way, by him losing the money on the way. It also follows the last of Todorov theory about returning to equilibrium, when` Lola’ and `Manni’ manage to get 122,500 marks, instead of the 100,000 marks that `Manni’ lost at the beginning of the film. By them getting the money they are able to carry on with their lives with each other, even though we know as the audience we know that their lives will never be the same as they were before.
