Saccharides The objective of the saccharide tests was to test the presence of saccharides in a variety of substances using Benedict’s reagent as well as a lugol solution. My hypothesis was if Lugol solution and Benedict’s reagent are used on a variety of substances, they will be successfully detect the presence carbohydrates, if any is present, in all the samples. The null hypothesis was that if Lugol solution and Benedict’s reagent are used on a variety of substances they may not be successful in testing the presence of saccharides in the different solutions.
The materials used in both the lugol and benedicts experiments include: test tubes, test tube rack, benedict’s reagent, lugol’s solution, parafilm, mortar and pestle . The
