The three most powerful empires of their time, the Ottomans, Safavids, and Mughals shared some common downfalls. They all had to deal with losing their land and control over their kingdom. Although they had some similarities in how they began to descend, they all had their own specific struggles to go through.

The Safavids little wealth helped make them the first to fall. They didn’t have as much money, so when the empires were at peace, the Safavids couldn’t afford to keep their army. With their weakened army, the Afghans invaded in 1722 and took Isfahan. The only good thing that came out of the decline was a renewal in Shi’a religion.
