Of the continuum of care, I observed Sala Family Dentistry on November 14, 2014 from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Sala Family Dentistry has been in business since 1974. Dr. Michael Sala founded the practice and later passed it on to his two sons, Jason and Todd. Jason and Todd are fourth generation Nevadans and believe in giving back to the community by participating and donating to other community efforts. Sala Family Dentistry was hosting their fifth annual free day of dentistry. The day of free dental care is part of a nationwide organizational effort, "Dentistry from the Heart", seeking to team up with dental providers to offer care to those in need. They offered free cleanings, extractions, and fillings. The event was running from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. By the time I arrived, the lines were wrapped around the building and partially down the street of men, women, and children seeking to obtain free dental care before the day's end. There were four general dentists, an oral surgeon, various amounts of dental hygienists and assistants, and many volunteers working for this event. Everyone working had such fluid communication with one another. They communicated through personal radio devices and had a few computer systems tracking and coordinating patient flow. They were incredibly easy to talk to and every person appeared to be genuinely happy to be serving others. I witnessed a spectrum of emotions. I saw expressions of hope, happiness, and gratitude. I watched one woman walk out tearing in relief from having a tooth pulled that was causing her
