My scientists name is Sally Ride, the first American woman to fly in space. I'm here to tell you about her early life and how she became the first American woman to fly in space.
Sally Ride was born May 26, 1951 in California. She graduated from Westlake High School located in Los Angeles in 1968. She went to Stanford University and earned her degree in Physics and degree in English in 1973 and a Master of Science and Doctorate in Physics in 1975 and 1978. After she got her degrees she applied to work for NASA. Sally Ride was chosen as one of NASA's first six female astronauts. She began training in 1978.
At age 32, Sally Ride went on her first mission as a mission specialist on NASA's seventh shuttle mission with the space shuttle
