I have chose two books to write a compare and contrast essay about the are outcast un.ited by Warren st john and a long the walk to the water by sue draper. I have chose the storly about salva to write about. They both end up coming to the us but luma from outcast united come to the us to come to college while salva was a reffuge in a refugge camp who was extremely lucky and got picked to go tot the united states. They both had to face conflict when luma wanted to start a life in the us her parents didnt want that and pretty much abonded her and when salva is in school and there are all hese gunshots that erupt and he has to run. These three quotes are very powerful form outcst united, Putting Luma on a pedestal is counterproductive... Luma is really a normal person doing what she can for the people around her. If people can look at her and see that, that she's human, not a saint or a superhero, and that she doesn't—can't—do everything or effect miracles, then maybe they can say to themselves, "I need to look around myself and see my neighborhood, and what is going on here and five streets over, and what I can do in terms of investing myself and my time, to be present for the people around me, and to do something positive for change in my community."Putting Luma on a pedestal is counterproductive...
