Samuel Seium. A social justice issue with Mary is the feelings of racism and how she feels different from the rest of the students at NYU making her feel like the “token” black person. Another social justice issue is sexism that Mary faced and she related with another professor at NYU who was a person of color. Classism is also another social justice issue because Mary came from a lower income neighborhood with little advantages. Immigration is another social issue because Mary’s parents came to American from Grenada and her father committed suicide because he was not able to find a job.
