San Gabriel Arcangel is the 4th Mission ever built. San Gabriel Arcangel was built on September 8th 1777. This mission was founded by father Pedro Benito Cambón. The mission was originally put along the hills of the Montebello hills at the site of Shevaanga .In 1775 the mission was relocated to of Iisanchanga about 3 miles away from original building. This mission is 9 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.
At San Gabriel Arcangel the population had nearly 1,800 people in it. The mission has lots of animals and livestock. Its primary livestock was cattle, sheep and goats. This mission was primarily made up of stone and concrete. Most of the walls in this mission are 4-5 feet thick. San Gabriel Arcangel means Pride of the Missions.
