There was a time that if a person misbehaved an adult would immediately chastises the child. Whereas, today if a child misbehave and an adult that knows the child see them misbehaving, would turn their head and not say anything. Most parents today do not take the time out to discipline or teach children moral values. Most parents today do not agree with other adults outside of the family disciplining their children. In contrast, of what other people believe, the government has made so many rules concerning corporal punishment that have nearly paralyzed the parents with fear of what may happen if they discipline the child. Therefore, many parents avoid corporal disciplining, which is what most African American feels is the only way to corrects “bad behavior” because corporal punishment is the only disciplined that was used in their home. Children who are not discipline lack self-control and function properly in society. Children, who know how to respect other people, follow rules, and have good mannerism, moral values was taught and discipline was used. Moral values are now being replaces with the desire for valuable material. Teaching moral value and discipline are two of the main thing that helps raises a child to become better
