President Obama says “The treat from terrorism is real, but we will overcome it.” How are we going to overcome something that’s just getting worse over time? Our nation has been at war with terrorist since al Qaeda killed nearly 3,000 Americans in 9/11. Making it harder to buy weapons will not prevent individuals from killing each other, weapons are sold every day on the streets. We are going to strengthen our military and hunt down terrorist plotters. 14 Americans were killed as they joined together to celebrate the holidays. The victims were brutally murdered and injured by their coworker and his wife. We are not going to overcome something that is just getting worse and worse. We have been fighting terrorism since 9/11. We need to use our military power and stop them, we have the power why aren’t we using it? Our country is in harm’s way and we are sitting back, waiting for something else to happen. Is that the way it should be? The lives of each and every American is in danger every day because we are just waiting. “So as long as we stay true to that tradition, I have no doubt America will prevail.” How is a tradition going to save us when bombs are coming at us? When people are shooting each other? We wake up each day not knowing whether we’re going to be killed or not. That’s not the way to live, tradition is not going to fix that. As American citizens we should have the right to decide what we are going to do about ISIL. I personally think we should just stop them together. Freedom is more powerful than fear, we need to use our freedom to stop them so we aren’t living in fear.
