Science DBQ The rock cycle is a very important type of geology, and is important to scientists. The rock cycle is a series of changes that transform one rock into another (OI). The rock cycle has no starting point (Doc.1). The igneous rock goes through weathering and erosion, which leads to sediment. Then, the sediment is pressed together and cemented, which leads to sedimentary rock. The sedimentary rock is changed by heat and pressure, which leads to a metamorphic rock. Then, the metamorphic rock starts to melt, which leads to magma. Then, the magma starts to cool, which leads back to an igneous rock (Doc.1). Metamorphic rocks form when existing rocks are exposed to extreme temperatures and pressure or the addition of chemical fluids. Igneous
