SciShow on YouTube brings science into the homes of its viewership and highlights the prevalence of science in our everyday lives. SciShow is a YouTube channel devoted to everything science. It consists of videos on a wide range of scientific topics from exploding lakes in Africa to the latest theory on extraterrestrial life. In 2011, I began working on a channel that would bring the neatest ideas and latest science news to viewers. That channel was SciShow, and it has grown from its first month subscription total of 100,000 to over two million subscribers today (Hank Green: Internet Guy). SciShow has a strong demographic interest among high school and college students and boasts an exceptionally higher female demographic interest than science-related programs usually have. (Hank Green: Internet Guy). SciShow made my dream of making science fun and readily available to the public a reality. What began as a personal goal is now a successful internet series. The increasing numbers of viewers and subscribers and the unique demographic interest patterns in SciShow videos demonstrate how a love for science can be shared with the world and can help inspire people to become engaged with the science in their everyday lives. I created a website, EcoGeek, which focuses on the utilization of technology for the improvement of the environment. EcoGeek is a collaboration of environmentally conscious techies who seek to help reverse and prevent negative human impact through new and innovative means (Hank Green: Internet Guy). The mission of EcoGeek is to unite “green” concepts with the rapid evolution of technology in order to preserve natural resources in efficient, modern, ways.
