Conflict between Scout and Francis began when Francis called Atticus an “N Lover”. That led Scout to punch Francis in the face. Later on, Francis lies to Uncle Jack which leads Scout to get in trouble until she finally tells him what happens. Who is truly at fault? Is Uncle Jack at fault for not listening to the full story or Scout for punching Francis in the face? Or is it really Francis for calling Scout’s father an “N Lover”? In my opinion, I originally thought that Francis was at fault but after a lot of thinking, I think the whole south and its culture is at fault. In reality, these sort of insults wouldn’t be said if it wasn’t for the prejudice ideas of the south. You can’t blame a certain person for saying something, if they weren’t
