Moreover, major cities like London, Paris, Tokyo, and Berlin were bombed greatly during this period. Knowing this strategic advantage, many countries rushed to get their air force or air corp in the sky. In addition, some countries looked to take over the sky through their high technological planes and gadgets. For instance, the Luftwaffe or Nazi Air Force looked to raid the air with their fast fighter jets and advanced pilots. Interestingly, the United States was desperate for pilots so they allowed African-Americans to join the fight. This was a huge moment as segregation was a major problem during this time. However, blacks were still racially segregated in the Army Air Corps, but proved to be great pilots under the program of the Tuskegee Airmen. In general, the world was at war during this period but also in a race against each other. Each country was looking to solve this problem by the creation of the atomic bomb. The U.S were able to conquer this feat and used their weapon wisely in the closing of the war.
