Select Train Educate Promote (S.T.E.P) Program The Select Train Educate Promote program can be defined as a road map for each individual Junior Soldier (Specialist) and Noncommissioned Officer. The reason is that the Select Train Educate Promote program lays out requirements for Junior Soldier (Specialist) and Noncommissioned Officer to meet or they want get promoted. The Army has permitted advancements, where Soldiers could be promoted to the next rank without having finished the required Professional Military Education since 1980. Through the Army Select Train Educate Promote program there are some requirements that need to be met before soldiers can be promoted to the next rank. To be recommended or board consideration the soldier has to complete their required structured self-development. Structured self-development is a required online distant learning that proceeds all through a soldier's time in the Army and expands upon knowledge in Noncommissioned Officer training courses. The recommendation to Sergeant requires completion of structured self-development 1, recommendation to Staff Sergeant requires completion of structured self-development 2, board consideration to Sergeant First Class requires completion of structured self-development 3, board consideration to master sergeant requires completion of structured self-development 4 and structured self-development 5 is for Sergeants Major and Command Sergeants Major that has been nominated to work for a commanding …show more content…
