To find him Walter would jump on a helicopter with a drunken pilot and fly out to sea to deliver a package. Walter was totally unwilling to do this until he zoned out once again and heard Cheryl sing Space Odyssey a song about being brave and attempting to face new difficulties in life. This then gives Walter the courage to jump on the helicopter and a characteristic that would stick with him throughout the whole movie. This characteristic can then seen moments later when Walter jumps out the helicopter and attempts to land in the metal boat. Walter then takes the boat to Iceland where he finds a bike that helps him to get near the volcano that Sean is photographing. He crashes near a town so he goes the rest of the way on foot. This sets up the part where he trades in his favourite toy as a child for a long board that he uses to get to the volcano. Despite the warning to stay away from the volcano from a hotel owner Walter spots Shaun and continues to the volcano. This brings his second characteristic of being brave.
