Senior Memory Book: Alani Guillaume Class of 2024 Chapter 1: Suddenly I Became Me. I spent all of my earliest years as an only child: first daughter, first grandchild, first niece, and first kid of my parent’s friend group. As a result, I spent almost all of my time with adults until I was old enough to start school. With no other kids to share the attention with, I became quite the performer, pulling out my karaoke machine to sing “Love Story” by Taylor Swift to anyone who came over, putting on fashion shows every time someone would give me clothes, and giving tours of my room and all of my toys. Mcnamara and her endless patience and support, I couldn’t even imagine finishing out the school year. Now I am just weeks away from graduating and forever thankful that she, as well as my support system of family and best friends, didn’t let me give up. I realized the importance of differentiating between who and what really matters, vs those that just drain me. I am going into college confident in myself and the person I have become, as well as the decisions I have made and the direction I am heading towards. I’ve learned to be thankful for the hard times, and even more appreciative of the far more plentiful good ones, and I think that is the most important thing that can be taken from my 12 years of schooling. Epilogue Working on this book has made me realize how much has actually happened in the last four years and how much about me and my life has changed. I have decided that four years is the perfect amount of time to be in high school as any longer would just be too long and any shorter wouldn’t be enough time. I’ve also realized how important it is to be there for the people you care about most and form close bonds, you never know when it will be time for you to need
