Senioritis is fictional virus that senior students use to explain their lazy behavior and lack of effort put into their schoolwork. Even as I type this essay, I am not putting in as much time and consideration into this paper. I have never really been a good student, only slipping by with decent enough grades. My senior year is no exception to my slacking routine. The most easily identified symptom of senioritis is when a student goofs off in class. Goofing off is when a student refuses to do work, talk to peers, or another activity that distracts them from their assignment. Modern science has sadly not been able to find a cure for this imaginary disease, so many students will most likely contract this fateful dilemma. However, Doctor J.M. Kirk has created several studies and discovered some psychological observations which could help reduce the senioritis virus. Kirk reports, “I was once afflicted with the terrible disease, senioritis, and I remember not caring about my school performance, nor my grades until I actually saw them.” If you are failing any classes, have poor grades, or just not receiving the grades required; then ask a teacher to open your grades and present them to you. Schools give out report cards every semester, which helps put the student back on track if they want to bring their grades up. Again, this observation is psychological; the brain collects the observation on the terrible grade reports and creates a temporary boost of adrenaline. This increased boost of energy will help students pay attention in class, do their homework, and study for tests, instead of slacking off.
