Sensory bottles have been used by many therapists, mothers, and educational professionals as a tool to help infants and students function well in their environments. In this activity, students will be taking an active role in preparing their own personalized sensory bottles using the materials provided.
- Each student will be provided with one clear plastic bottle.
- They will use various hand grasps and fine motor movements to put the fun materials of their choice in the bottle.
- If the student is making a sensory bottle that requires water and baby oil, they will be responsible for adding the ingredients with close supervision.

Interpersonal adaptions
If the students make the sensory bottle with beads floating around in it, then it can be used during a game of I-spy with peers and/or adults. This is an interactive way to calm the body while also using improving their visual perceptual skills. Another adaptation would be using the magnetic sensory bottle during play. Each student would practice taking turns moving the pipe cleaners around using the magnet. If two magnets are present, they are able to work together to move various pipe cleaners at the same time to create a design or to move one single pipe cleaner.
Grading:
Grade Up: For the older students, step by step verbal directions will be provided throughout the activity. If used during activity, min (A) will be provided for sealing the top of the bottle using a glue gun.
Grade Down 1: For younger students or children with coordination and dexterity difficulties, step by step supervision will be provided to along with mod/max (A) throughout the activity. Additionally, fewer materials will be used in activity to enhance completion and
