Some of the social policies in the video are, well-being and welfare, unemployment benefits, subsidized housing, shelter issues (overcrowded), living conditions and food banks. Even though Sera’s family were living in a one room apartment, it was so unsanitary and not good living conditions. The video also helped me understand just how long the process can take for certain programs. It showed just how many people are living in poverty and in dangerous neighborhoods. People do not realize just how much growing up in poverty has affected the children that have to live through it. It showed how the little things mean so much to a child living in poverty. Like Sera said no child should have to go through this, it will stick with them forever. It has also helped me to see that there is so much more than just understanding the dynamics of poverty, but to help with policy decisions based on our profession’s experience and what will work and what we as social worker need to in order for it to get
