This is due to Thunder Bay Dirty only covering Indigenous peoples as their weakest, when they are in bad situations that they did not ask for, and making it seem like all Indigenous people are these stereotypes. There is no nuance or honest depictions of average Indigenous peoples in Thunder Bay Dirty, because that is not their intent whenever they post these pictures. Their intent is to slander the Indigenous peoples by making it out to be the all the Indigenous peoples here in Thunder Bay, if not the rest of Canada, is filled with filthy homeless drunks as “citizens.” And people will believe this as Thunder Bay is the “hate crime capital of Canada.” (Talaga, 268) There is a strong hatred of Indigenous peoples from residents in Thunder Bay, and they would be more than likely to believe the Facebook page that spreads lies about them rather than the true perceptions of Indigenous peoples straight from themselves.

It spreads misinformation about the Indigenous peoples in Thunder Bay to appease their intolerant audience who despise them. Even if the Indigenous people themselves say that they drink alcohol for a variety of other reasons that are not related to alcoholism. Thunder Bay would not care about their reasons. It is more comfortable believing the lie of them being “Dirty Drunks” rather than any semblance of truth that breaks that
