This chapter is about two families that use technology in very different ways, but both continue to thrive. The author goes over seven practices of a sustainable family that help a family if they do or do not use technology. The first practice is about developing guidelines and rules. Parents need to discuss with their child why they are allowed to use technology or not and they set limits to how much, which sites they can visit, and when they can use technology. The second practice is being able to play tech free. This means making games that don’t require technology, having kids use their imaginations, and being able to foster a mind that can enjoy being in the moment. The sixth practice is having family values and wisdom. This means being able to interact with several generations and know what is important to the family.
