Aplastic anemia is a disease in which the bone marrow does not make enough blood cells for the body. The three types of blood cells the body requires are: red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. There is one person in 250,000 people diagnosed each year, aplastic anemia.
The Physicians at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center have treated a small group of less than 20 patients with a rare and lethal form of bone marrow failure called severe aplastic anemia.
