The movie North Country follows the main character, Josey Aimes, as she starts working at the Eveleth mines and ultimately, along with the other women that work in the mines, files what will be the first major sexual harassment case in the United States. It chronicles the women’s journey of working in the mines and the day-to-day struggles they faced as women in an all male workplace. They endured sexual harassment, abusive language, threats of rape, and also stalking.
Aimes, played by Charlize Theron in the movie, was based on a woman by the name of Lois Jenson. She worked for the Eveleth Taconite Company. In 1988, attorney Paul Sprenger filed Lois E. Jenson and Patricia S. Kosmach v. Eveleth Taconite Co. in the District Court in Minneapolis,
