After one commits a misdeed, that person will most likely be judged because of it for the rest of their life by those that know about the crime they had committed. Some of the misdeeds in this topic could relate to murder, attempted murder, rape or sexual assault, child endangerment, drug abuse and solicitation, destruction of property, robbery, and fraud. Committing one of these misdeeds is a criminal offense that is punishable with a prison sentence and it will be a part of that person’s life forever. Basically, once a misdeed has happened, the person who committed the crime knows they have done something wrong and they will probably try to hide it because they don’t want anyone knowing about it. Many of these situations start out with the person being abused as a child or some other trauma during childhood that leads them on a course of disastrous consequences. Shaka Senghor grew up in an environment where his parents divorced and he was abused. Unfortunately, he didn’t get the guidance he needed to improve his life as he aged as is the case for most of these people in prison. Shaka didn’t have his life-changing moment until he received a letter from his son. That’s when he realized his son would forever view his father as a murderer. Being judged for one’s misdeed isn’t easy to deal with once they decide that’s not what they want to be remembered for. They can better themselves and move on with their life if they choose to, even while inside prison. Rehab programs should be a part of prison for those who want to better themselves so they could possibly have another chance at life once they get released. Although the misdeed should have never been made to begin with, it is too late once it has happened. This person now goes to jail and they deserve a chance to do what is right, but they have to choose this path on their own, just with a bit of guidance to help get them there. If they can make that change, they will become a better person and be a good example for others that have gone down that wrong path so maybe they will choose to be better people too. One’s past will always be a part of them, but it doesn’t have to define them. They can make that choice.
