The Gallagher’s are a low income family struck by the affliction of an alcoholic father, absent bipolar mother, and thus resulting in Fiona, the eldest daughter being forced to raise all 5 of her younger siblings. Throughout the tv series, Karl Marx’s conflict theory is depicted as they struggle to pay for food, rent, clothes, and other essentials. The struggle of obtaining resources are bestowed upon the children when they are as young as 9 years old.
