The ‘Share the Dignity’ campaign focuses on providing the necessary health and sanitary items to women who find themselves homeless due to issues such as domestic violence. As the focus of the Social Justice task, this campaign was extremely relevant and important to address as it has become a prevalent issue in modern society. Our particular product focus was based mostly on creating awareness of the problem of domestic violence and raising funds prior to Social Justice Day. Through the initial researching process, I became interested in the cause once I had viewed its promotional video online. To ensure this, we divided the class into smaller groups with each in charge of one of the following concepts; small plush women for decoration, dream catchers, shortbread cookies and relevant posters along with a promotional video. By having various options for people to buy; we were able to successfully accommodate and create appealing products for all age groups and maximise our funds for the campaign. Having access to primary sources such as the guest speaker for the Share the Dignity campaign, greatly assisted in developing a sound knowledge regarding the organisation and its aim. It was through this insightful presentation that I was able to grasp the complete significance of the issue when I was informed that “85,000 women were using homeless services each year” this meant that each and every one of them would have experienced the inconvenience of a period each month. Similarly, the online ‘Share the Dignity’ video allowed me to specifically reflect and understand that this basic female necessity is considered a privilege and not a right. By creating a product suitable for all age groups we aimed to influence the widest possible audience. Food served as the perfect fund raising product as it offered a tasty treat with a strong message. By using various shapes relating to the ‘Share the Dignity’ campaign, we successfully demonstrated the significance of help, love and support through our products. Each cookie displayed a tag with a summary of the campaign and thus spread awareness to even the primary students. By openly educating them about our foundation and the issue combatted, it allows the girls to comprehend the direct impact they have when purchasing products from our stall and also creates a deeper understanding for the students. It also brings their attention to the injustices of our world and instils in them that they have the ability to create a change. This is something the group and I felt passionate about and in we believe it is important to encourage younger generations of females to understand and recognize that domestic violence is never okay. By raising awareness, we are also creating a chain of knowledge that provides hope for women who find themselves in these difficult circumstances and positively that there are people available for
