Jackie Robinson was born on January 31,1919 in Cairo, Georgia. Jackie was the youngest of five children with a single mother. Jackie played four different sports they are basketball, footbal, track and baseball. Jackie signed up with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1957. Some of his teammates objected in having a African American on the team. But some people defended Jackie's right to play baseball with them. Jackie Robinson retired from baseball January 5,1957. Jackie Robinson died from heart problems and diabetes on October24,1972.
