The short story I chose is called “The Talk” by Gary Soto. The theme of the story was that two friends think that they are ugly. The sort story is about why they thought that. They said, “Shake the second-base dirt from our hair, wash our hands of frog smell and canal water, and learn how to smile without showing our crooked teeth”. The setting of the story was “on a backyard…”. They said the setting of the story in the beginning. The main characters of the story were Scott and the narrator. They asked each other “… whom I was going to married?” The theme does help because when they saw the bountiful girl from the backyard they said they wouldn’t have a change because they were ugly. The author did a great job
