Everyone has their own dreams. Some dreams are not quite as big as others, but Dina’s dream was to move to Japan. She had no plans of how to accomplish her dream, but knew what she wanted. A move away from home is always a time of reevaluation. Dina eventually accomplishes her goal; however, she not only moves away from home, but to another country and a much larger city. Once she moves she deals with the stress of her living arrangement and discovers it is difficult to find work. While dreaming of the loveliness Japan could offer her in Packer’s “Geese”, Dina soon experienced the determination, poverty, and struggle that she never expected. While being a gaijin, Dina knew the obstacles and difficulties she had to overcome to land a job in Packer’s “Geese.” “Economic Downturn”, one office lady told her. After hearing this, Dina quickly accepted a job at Summerland. During her work at Summerland she met Arillano Justinio Arroyo, also known as Ari. They grew to have a very close friendship. Unfortunatly, by the end of the summer she and Ari found themselves jobless. …show more content…
She rented a motel room month to month. After Ari found out Dina was still jobless, he offered her a place to live with him. Little did she know, he also had Petra, Zoltan, and soon Sayeed living with him also. At first Dina is unhappy with the number of people living with her and Ari and she thinks, “it should have been just he and she…and she swore she could not-would not- take it anymore.” Her feelings of anger are mostly due to Sayeed trying to kill her, but Dina is also struggling with living in a way that she is not accustomed to in
